Le Chemin Debussy, by Syvlie Rabussier: another perpective on the musical world of the Saint-Germain-born composer.

This monumental contemporary artwork is found not on public property but within the grounds of the Collège Claude Debussy.

It is open to the public for guided tours by the artist only on certain dates.

Sylvie Rabussier, a mosaic artist, created it in 1991–2, as a commission from the Conseil Général des Yvelines. She restored it in 2012, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Debussy's birth.

The group of mosaic sculptures follows a 200 m-long woodland trail with a succession of colourful mosaic-covered walls, columns and steles.

The different stages of this sculpture trail gradually introduce viewers to the musician's world.

- an introduction to the musician's world via fragments of musical scores, echoing his taste for 'Japonism'
- a poetic journey via a calligraphic quotation from a poem by Jehan Despert, a famous figure in Les Yvelines, recalling Debussy's many inspirations and literary encounters
- move into music and playing with two hands, treble and bass clefs, with one of the first impressionist works: 'Reflets dans l'eau'
- the introduction of a more symbolic work: 'Les jardins sous la pluie'
- and finally, a more lyrical work: 'Romance'.
