On the edge of the forest Aigremont, Chambourcy, L'Etang-la-Ville, Mareil-Marly

On the edge of the Marly forest lie four enchanting villages. Aigremont, quiet and picturesque, offers cobbled streets and old houses. Chambourcy, full of life, echoes with the laughter of children in its lively streets. Mareil-Marly, where tranquillity meets nature, invites you to enjoy the gentle pace of life in its shady lanes. Finally, L’Étang-la-Ville, with its sparkling streams and narrow, wooded streets in the historic town centre, is an invitation to explore and stroll.

 Aigremont

Aigremont is a pretty village on the edge of the Marly forest. Follow the schoolchildren’s trail to discover it and extend your walk with a visit to the Tailles d’Herbelay.

South of Aigremont, the Tailles d’Herbelay forest is home to the remains of the Tailles d’Herbelay resistance centre, a witness to the First World War. It is now open to the public via a 200-metre pathway with information panels. The 1,749-hectare Marly forest completes the harmony of this typical Yvelines village.

Great stories T13 stations reinvent themselves

Lisière Pereire, Mareil-Marly, L’Etang-la-Ville: the stations on line T13 are undergoing a veritable metamorphosis. Former stations on the main railway line, these once-deserted stations are now being transformed into real places to live.
They are now home to catering facilities and infrastructure dedicated to local associations, creating a new dynamism for local residents. This project is part of the rehabilitation of the former Grande ceinture line, once used to bypass Paris before being closed in 1934.

Today, the T13 is breathing new life into this historic route by combining modernity and memory, while promoting conviviality and local involvement. To discover: Le Quai des Possibles at Lisière Pereire station in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Le café de la Gare in Mareil-Marly and Aux Quais in L’Etang-la-Ville

 Chambourcy

The town of Chambourcy is home to a sumptuous jewel, hidden on the edge of the Marly forest, the Désert de Retz. This landscaped park is an architectural and botanical gem that invites you to take a timeless stroll, amid remarkable trees and unusual fabriques including the grandiose destroyed column.

Also worth a visit in the village is the André Derain house. Nestled in a peaceful, leafy setting, this home bears witness to the life and work of André Derain, co-founder of Fauvism. He was captivated by the poetry of the site, where he found the tranquillity he needed to create.

 L'Etang-la-Ville

At L’Etang-la-Ville follow the waterways and explore this pretty village near the Marly forest. The Nabis painters Ker Xavier-Roussel, Bonnard and Vuillard notably celebrated it in several canvases, set off to discover them thanks to the Impressionist Trail.

For those who wish to set off to discover the Marly forest, nothing could be simpler, if you are in Paris, load your bike onto the Transilien line L and get off at the “Forêt de Marly” station.

 Mareil-Marly

Take a stroll along the paths of Mareil-Marly and enjoy a superb panorama of the west of Paris from the heights of the town.

Among our must-sees, treat yourself to a gourmet break in one of the town’s restaurants and meet Bohémont Flamand at Les Temps des Savoir-Faire!
