During the XIXth century, Napoleon the Third restores the castle of Compiègnes and puts its ancient collections in the castle of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, which then becomes the National Museum of Archeology. After the presentation of this historical city, you will visit the Piette room, containing the collection of passionate archeologist Edouard Piette (1827-1906).

-A discovery of Napoleon the Third

In August of the year 1855, whilst her visit of Paris, Queen Victoria asked Napoleon the Third to let her visit the place where her ancestors, the Stuarts, had been exiled. Due to this request, the emperor decided to transform the castle into a museum that would become the showcase for all of French archeology. Enjoy a guided visit of the city: a presentation of the Napoleon the Third’s officer’s dining room and of their training room.
