Push open the doors of Laurence Moracchini's workshop!

After an artistic training at the Faculty of Plastic Arts of the Sorbonne and at the Suzanne Coutant School of Art in Paris, my painting was for several years resolutely figurative. Then I needed to "let go", and my work, for more than 10 years now that I would describe as "abstract-figuration", allows me this freedom of creation.

I work in series and the paintings that compose them are linked by a common thread. When I start a canvas I don't know what it will be, I let myself be carried by this thread and one day a painting takes another direction and a new series begins.

I paint in the letting go and the energy that I try to hold until the last touch. I work quickly even if in the end I can stay on a canvas for a long time. Accidents are decisive in each stage of my painting, which develops in layers that partly overlap, I paint, I correct, in a constant back and forth between the visible and the invisible, on the border of the figurative and the 'abstraction.

Some series are more abstract, others more figurative, in which we guess landscapes, often seascapes, but I like to confuse the issue and invite everyone's imagination. I don't give any clues, my paintings never have an evocative title, so everyone appropriates the canvas with their own references.
