If the castle of Saint-Germain-en-Laye contains today one of the most prestigious archaeological collections of Europe, from the entrance you will be struck by the beauty of its inner courtyard which access is free.

It is François I who, adding the brick to the stone, makes build the Renaissance castle as you discover it today.

You will find in the courtyard several elements which indicate the passage of kings and emperors within it, as well as a subterfuge in "trompe l'oeil" which is offered to the eyes of the most informed visitors. All you have to do is find it ...

The castle is closed on December 25th and January 1st.

The chapel is open to the public and can be visited freely.



Every day throughout the year between 10 am and 5 pm except on January 1st and December 25th.
Closed on Tuesday.
