Special "master builder" tour in the footsteps of Jules Hardouin Mansart, the King's premier architect.
Morning:
- Tour of Hôtel de Noailles at Saint-Germain-en-Laye
Between 1679 and 1682, the Duc de Noailles called upon the king's premier architect to build a huge recreational mansion on a vast plot of land near the forest. The current owner will show you the décor of the rooms and the beautiful 18th-century interior woodwork.
Lunch at Château du Val
At the request of King Louis XIV, Jules Hardouin Mansar transformed the "Maison du Val" into a little château. It stands at the end of the Grande Terrasse designed by André Le Nôtre.
- Lycée Militaire de Saint-Cyr
Having inherited three centuries of history and a tradition of teaching, the lycée still very much retains the memory of the Maison Royale de Saint-Louis, the plans of which were drawn up by Jules Hardouin Mansart at the request of Louis XIV and Madame de Maintenon. The prestigious Ecole Spéciale Militaire also occupied the site from 1808 to 1940.
